From Romans 12:9-21...
Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share with people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil.
Live at peace with everyone.
Do not take revenge, but leave room for God’s wrath.
[It is God's job to punish, not man's]
If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
And the second [commandment] is like it:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
- Matthew 22:39:40
[Jesus 1st commandment is, of course, to love God]
Loving others is FUNDAMENTAL to the "radical" (and basically socialist) teachings of Jesus. If a person rejects one of the two commandments that "All the Law and the Prophets hang on," how can they consider themself a true follower of Jesus?
